Grey and Ductile Iron - ASIMCO Technologies has entered a series of strategic partnerships to ensure it becomes the leading producer of gray and ductile iron castings in China. The Company has invested in modern facilities and the latest technology to ensure it can meet the needs of both its China and oversees customers.
Grey iron castings are primarily used in the manufacture of engine blocks and heads and transmission cases. Completed in 2000, the Shanxi foundry is one of the most modern in China and one of ASIMCO Technologies showcase foundries. It produces blocks and heads for both gasoline and diesel engines, and is capable of producing the thin walled castings necessary for today's modern engines.
The Shanxi Province facility benefits from the latest casting technology managed by engineering and project teams from China, US and Europe based on site as well as technical support from Caterpillar. Equipped with electric melting furnaces, the Shanxi foundry has a grey iron capacity currently producing 40,000 tons per year. This capacity is set to rise following significant capital investment to a capacity of 55,000 tons per year by 2006. The automated foundry has moulding size capability typically in the range of 50Kg to 300Kg.
Ductile iron castings are produced at ASIMCO Technologies foundry in Gu'an, one hour from both Beijing and the Tianjin port. The castings produced by the foundry are fully machined on site prior to being shipped to the customer. Current capacity of the Gu'an foundry is 23,000 tons per annum and through further investment, ASIMCO Technologies plans to increase capacity to 65,000 tons annually. The Gu'an facility is equipped to be a world leading ductile iron production facility and has already began to provide safety critical parts for export.
Aluminum - In non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, ASIMCO Technologies' casting facility in Beijing will be doubled; and a separate facility will be created to produce larger castings on presses up to 2,000 tons. In addition to pressure die castings, ASIMCO Technologies can provide gravity and investment castings using a variety of materials. An on-site machining facility provides full machining capability.
ASIMCO Technologies also operates an aluminum gravity and pressure die casting foundry in Hengyang, Hunan Province, China, which supplies fuel pump housings and other aluminum cast engine components to companies such as Yuchai, China's largest diesel engine maker. A $4 million expansion of the foundry is currently underway.
From this facility, ASIMCO Technologies will supply intake manifolds and connecting ports; water outlets; cylinder heads, separator and thermostat covers; temperature controller seats and covers; and rear oil seal seats. |
